About Emily
Hello! I’m Emily and I’m an artist and illustrator based in northern British Columbia, Canada. I’m known for my playful, hand-painted artwork that celebrates nature, people, and small joyful moments from everyday life.
I create paintings inspired by my experiences among northern Canadian landscapes, and I’ve exhibited my work at Two Rivers Gallery, Island Mountain Arts, and Omineca Arts Centre, as well as in the publications Thimbleberry and Fire Season. As an illustrator I’ve created bespoke work for a range of commercial purposes including posters, stationery and apparel, for clients and businesses including Coldsnap Music Festival and Stride & Glide Sports.
I have an interdisciplinary background in fine art, science and history: I studied visual arts at Vancouver Island School of Art, and have a bachelor’s degree in cognitive science and history from McGill University. I’m curious about the creative process, the human condition, and the way the world works.
I love to write my monthly newsletter where I share reflections from my life and studio, my artistic inspirations, as well as the books/TV/music/films that I love.
When I’m not painting in my studio you’ll find me out walking in the woods, cross-country skiing, knitting, reading a book (or ten), or lifting weights at the gym.
